Walking the SEO tightrope over a spamming abyss

Expert search engine optimization (SEO) must walk a tightrope between content that is attractive to users but also offers clues to search engines, one expert has claimed.

According to blogger Fresh Content writing on Promotion World, SEO web design is key, but an ability to do it well is the icing on the cake for any business.

The blogger writes: "Your ad copy should be professional and clean.

"It should tell the user what they need to know in a way that both attracts them to your product or service and clues the search engine to what is on your site."

However, they warn: "You need to clue the search engine in without alerting it to the fact that the site has been SEO'd."

Moreover, websites recognised for underhand tactics by search engines such as Google often end up being blacklisted and removed from the rankings altogether.

Meanwhile, experts have expressed concern that the latest search engine offering from Wikipedia, Wikia Search, will become a hotbed for spam content.

The new search engine will allow users to edit the headlines and summary and comment on the content of a website for its usefulness for particular users.
