Selecting the right keywords for SEO

Selecting the correct keywords and phrases is a fundamental part of search engine optimisation (SEO).

That is the view of industry expert Shaun Oakes, writing on the TechLeader blog, who claims that relevancy of a keyword is as important as its popularity.

Mr Oakes writes: "It wouldn't be sensible to focus your accommodation website around the term 'luxury Wynberg villa' if there is no demand for it."

Meanwhile he states that "'cape town accommodation' may be a highly searched for term, but it wouldn't be applicable to your Garden Route tour operator website".

Another article on AJP Online suggests that businesses register with a directory to improve the availability of their website.

It suggests that higher keyword volumes and reputation can help boost search engine rankings for keyphrases and words.

Is it better to go it alone with keywords or is joining a business directory better for SEO?
