Business managers ignoring 'vital' website content management

Many UK businesses are paying little attention to their "vital" website content management solutions, according to SDL Tridion.

Research by the firm suggests that 88 per cent of UK senior marketing communications managers are not involved in the management of their website.

However, rather than outsourcing to a search engine marketing company, many are leaving web design solutions in the hands of junior IT staff.

SDL said: "Senior staff who shirk responsibility for their websites are missing a trick.

"Websites remain a vital channel of communication with customers, prospects and partners."

Only 21 per cent of communications managers are involved in monitoring their website's performance in the UK.

By comparison, nearly 20 per cent more managers in the US get involved in their company's website management.

Meanwhile web design is becoming a more and more important part of online marketing strategy for most businesses, according to Adam Price of SEO SiteBuilder.com on bytestart.co.uk.

He claims that in an increasingly competitive market a high search engine ranking is "vitally important".
