A bounce rate of 45 per cent is too high and a real problem for increasing website traffic, one expert has claimed.
Bouncing is when users enter a website but leave without looking at any others, suggesting that the site itself didn't correspond with their needs.
In an article on bytestart.co.uk, search engine optimisation (SEO) agency Latitude Group, remarks that in order to convert click-throughs into sales, companies need to focus on the "user experience".
The agency writes: "A high bounce rate on an organic search campaign means a lot of wasted time, effort, and ultimately money.
"High bounce rates may also be restricting your SEO campaign from achieving the best rankings possible."
Meanwhile, Tad Chef suggests on the SEOptimise blog that companies risk a high bounce rate by not doing enough local market research when they target a new online audience.
In particular, he notes that businesses should aim to avoid spelling and grammatical mistakes.
