MS Live more relevant - increased website traffic next?

Say it aloud to believe it - Microsoft's Live Search is better than Google and if it gets more website traffic it will be a good thing.

That's what David Snyder, writing on his blog, believes and he has some evidence to prove the point.

One example he provided is searching for "Chevy" - while Live's top five brings up results relating to the Chevrolet car, while Google has some other results, including a site about actor Chevy Chase.

Without wanting to enter into a debate about the relevance of Chevy Chase, Mr Snyder does not believe he should be in there and he provides other examples of where Live appears to outdo Google.

But he points out that Live isn't increasing its market share - Google grew in dominance in the USA at least in August - so any SEO company will not have to worry about concentrating on it yet.

However, he says: "The reality is that webmasters, and internet marketers are growing tired of the big G, and the table is set for a competitor to capture some market share if they can embrace this population.

"I think it benefits everyone in the search community to have a worthy foe for the Big G."

While no-one would argue about competition being a good thing, is his belief that Live is better correct and if so, do we really need Microsoft to start dominating in another area?
