Google introduce changes to Website Optimizer

Google has introduced new features for its Website Optimizer tool, which it says is a useful tool for any search engine marketing company.

The tool helps websites by testing and improving websites with a view to getting increased website traffic.

Users set up different versions of a web page and test the performance of each, but one of the new features is for users to simply click a disable button to remove any low-performing variations, with the remaining traffic getting sent to the higher-performing versions.

Another new feature is that it will support offline validation of A/B tests.

"If your test pages aren't accessible to Website Optimizer, you can instead directly upload a copy of your tagged source code and we'll make sure that everything is tagged correctly," wrote Jon Stona of the Google Website Optimizer team on a Google blog.

But despite the new features, is Google Website Optimizer really a useful tool for a search engine marketing company or is it more suited to the amateur user?
