Blogs to no longer increase website traffic?

One commentator has said that Google may be beginning to purge some blogs, putting their usefulness in helping website traffic be increased at risk.

David Naylor, who runs his own search engine marketing and SEO company, cites rumours that Google was going to begin removing blogs from search results and found that his own pages were not being indexed like normal.

He has not been able to find any problems, but noticed that he is "fine in Google's Blog Search and dead in Google Organic [the standard search]".

Despite being offered suggestions by his readers on what might be wrong, he cannot figure out the reason behind it, pointing out that he adheres to Google's terms and conditions and has not broken any rules.

However, he does say that "if Google is banning [him] because [he] spoke out on certain topics" it would be "web censorship".

While this would be censorship, it is perhaps more likely that there is something less sinister at hand.

So has Google begun purging blogs from its results?
