It seems that (a lack of) Video Killed the Retail Star, as a study has found that if your internet marketing strategy doesn't include video it's as dead as the cassette tape.
DMNews reported on a Harris Interactive study at the ERA's Las Vegas conference, which found that many ERA members believe video media should be the "cornerstone" of their internet marketing campaign.
But this is a new and exciting world, so any online marketing services must provide thorough testing, although there is one absolute necessity - entertainment.
"You can't talk to them unless you are first entertaining them," the website quoted Marianne Foley of Harris as saying.
"They are looking for something entertaining and informative at the same time."
While the idea of adverts needing to be entertaining might not be the most original of concepts, online video certainly is and there is a whole raft of video search engines appearing on the scene, claiming to be the best.
Aside from established players, these include OVGuide.com's engine, as well as VideoSurf and Trueveo, which have all been getting attention in the media.
But exactly how important is video to online marketing currently - should businesses get on board now, or is it something for the future?
