The latest advice on internet marketing

Some of the biggest movers and shakers in the internet marketing world have been rubbing shoulders at a conference in Las Vegas.

Named Pubcon, but without a beer tap or dartboard in sight, the event takes place in Las Vegas over three days and covers topics like search engine optimisation and search engine marketing.

However, Mel Carson, from Microsoft's adCenter team, has reported back on some of the advice from the PPC (pay-per-click) Vendor Panel.

For the uninitiated, PPC is a form of internet marketing where advertisers only pay for their advert when someone clicks on it.

The first tip was: "Advertise on multiple search engines. There is value in every top search network."

Secondly, he said: "Be aware that duplication of advertising campaigns across search engines increases brand awareness."

A third was: "Combining the power of a multi-search approach will increase clicks and ROI if managed properly."

Mr Carson seems to focus pretty heavily on advertising on more than one search engine.

So is it really worth doing this, what with Google dominating the search world, or is he trying to gain support for his company's own engine?
