Our houses are worth less than the paint on their walls, there will soon be only one bank left in the whole country and the Large Hadron Collider is set to explode us out of our misery, but one thing is bucking the bad-news trend - marketing on the internet.
Figures from the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA) show that 81 per cent of advertisers have increased their online marketing spend in 2008 and predict that this will continue in the next two years.
Sadly, someone is losing out from this, with print media and television seeing a decrease in spend.
"This research shows that while other forms of media are suffering from slowing spend, online continues to take a growing proportion of advertising budgets as brands increasingly recognise its impact, value and potential ROI," said Alison Fennah, EIAA executive director.
"Advertisers in Europe are also starting to realise the economic and operational benefits that are offered through the adoption of pan-regional online strategies."
So while this is good news for everyone in the online marketing services sector, is this trend likely to continue or could the business be heading for a bubble-burst of its own?
