The predictions of a drive towards strategic internet marketing on mobiles appear to be coming true after Google announced it was to experiment with posting ads on pages of its mobile YouTube website.
YouTube product marketing manager Christine Tsai revealed the news on the Official Google Mobile Blog, and said the testing would be taking place in the USA and Japan.
However, the move was just the beginning of a full testing process for mobile internet marketing for YouTube which would allow advertisers in the trial to reach millions of users.
"We're excited to explore new approaches to mobile advertising and will evaluate this test closely over the next several weeks to make sure we provide our community, our partners and advertisers with the most valuable and effective mobile experience possible," commented Ms Tsai.
While Google obviously thinks there is a future in mobile advertising there are surely some problems.
For instance, surely people surfing the internet on their mobiles are not doing it for business rather than pleasure and would be annoyed at constant adverts getting in the way.
So is Google going in the right direction with mobile internet marketing?
