Health food company Benecol is hoping to get the better of search engine placement with a new coupon online marketing strategy, it has been revealed.

The specialist food firm will offer 12 coupons on the Benecol product range in a bid to encourage customers to access their website, reports Precision Marketing.

Associate marketing manager at McNeil Nutritionals, Bailey Jakobi, told the magazine that offering tangible rewards to customers has significantly improved online marketing success.

He said: "With easy access to a wide range of money-saving offers it is significantly easier to engage with consumers, motivate them to return to your site, and encourage long-term relationships with your brand."

A similar online marketing technique was launched last month by drinks producer Ocean Spray, using the same agency as Benecol, Couponstar.

The online campaign provided consumers with printable coupons that offered discounts on its products purchased offline in shops.
